Marpissa:
The town is built amphitheatrically on the side of the
of Kefalos Hill at the east part of the island, located
15 km from Parikia and 13 km from Naoussa. Marpissa is
a town of great interest, built according to the traditional
cycladic architectural lines with alleys, arches, old
houses and churches.
Beaches: Around Marpissa there are several wonderful
sundy beaches. The closest beach is Pisso Livadi
with clear and shallow waters, just next to the picturesque
fishing port. To the north side there are 2 beaches Molos
inside a quite and safe bay and Tsoukalia facing
the north side of the island. Moving to the south, next
to Pisso Livadi, is located the sandy beach Logaras
awarded with blue flag. Further to the south in 1 kim
distance comes Pounda beach, which is the favorite beach
of the youngers and party seekers.
One
km further to the south comes New Golden Beach,
also known as Tserdakia. Here is the windsurfers paradise
attracting windsurfers from all over the world. New Golden
Beach is hosting the annual PWA Paros World Cup since
1993. A professional windsurfing club operates on the
beach, offering top quality windsurfing equipment as well
as tuition for beginners and advanced sailors. Right after
comes Golden Beach, one of the largest sandy beaches
of Paros, offering as well windsurfing and kite-surfing
facilities.
Sights: The Venetian castle, at Kefalas Hill, built
in the 15th century with significant historical value.
N. Perantinos Museum in Marpissa, exhibiting statues,
bas-reliefs and medals donated to Marpissa by the great
local sculptor N. Perantinos.
